Here are my top summer activities in Aspen, Colorado…
Hiking
Hiking is favorite summer activity as it provides exercise and exhilaration from the beauty of the outdoors. There are so many hiking trails to choose from, but the most popular trail in the area is the Crater Lake trail giving you stunning views of the Maroon Bells. Some other favorites include Cathedral Lake, American Lake, and the Weller Lake trail- all incredibly scenic and rewarding. With trails for all skill levels, you won’t have a problem finding something suitable for you or your group.
Biking
Biking trails abound in and around the Aspen Snowmass area, and I have personally found so much enjoyment from E-biking! The most popular trail in the area is the Rio Grande Trail that spans from Aspen to Woody Creek to Glenwood Springs. It is an event to ride from Aspen to the Woody Creek Tavern for lunch and back. Another favorite ride is from downtown Aspen up to the Maroon Bells. With an abundance of trails, a mountain bike park on Snowmass, and reliable rental shops throughout town, you can’t go wrong with a biking excursion.
Fly Fishing
Fly fishing in the rivers of Colorado is an activity that can be both adventurous and relaxing. You can go with a guide to explore some of the most amazing locations to fly fish around the roaring fork valley or branch out on your own to a nearby fly fishing spot. Either way, this is an incredible activity that is amplified by the beauty of the outdoors.
Golfing
You will find golf courses throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and enjoy teeing off with the breath-taking mountain range in the background. The Aspen Golf Club, Maroon Creek Club, and the Snowmass Club Golf Course are the most notable go-to spots.
Rock Climbing
One of my favorite sports, you can embark on a rock climbing journey of your own in the Roaring Fork Valley. Whether you are wanting to climb one of the challenging mountains nearby or scale an actual rock climb on Independence Pass, I would only recommend going with an experienced guide-especially if you don’t have any climbing experience.
White Water Rafting
White water rafting is an experience you won’t forget, whether you embark on a journey on the Roaring Fork River closer to Aspen or the Colorado River near Glenwood Springs, CO. There are guiding companies throughout the valley offering a variety of trip lengths and difficulty levels.
Horseback Riding at T Lazy 7 Ranch
If you have never been horseback riding, this is the golden opportunity! Horseback riding through the trails, especially when the aspen tree leaves are changing colors is an astounding experience you have to try during your next vacation during the warmer months.
